** crap box ** the electronic knights pack series issue 18 * compiled and code by bifat * music ok3anos * gfx nero surprise, surprise! .... we just received a crapbox-exclusive release by defekt. check out their cool production screw levity right here and now! this must be a first, I think, although we have released a few of our own productions on crap box before. so thanks to defekt, and enjoy! next up we have a very sad topic: you won't find the winner demo from the gerp party clubisque on this issue. the reasons are complicated. the production is huge, alright, and there was a small time window in which it could have made it on this pack. however the party version had issues on everything but a stock a500, and so I asked for a fix. after some iterations now there is a fix, which works on more machines, including the A1200. but it now requires all the memory, seemingly up to the last byte, to run on an a500. and then I couldn't get this to run from packdisk anymore. I'm so sorry that this happened to this of all productions. the only way to make up for this would b to bring it on a later issue, but I cannot promise that, because it's still a mystery to me why it wouldn't start. inspired by the artstate party packs, which often include pics from the parties, I sat down and wrote a slideshow viewer for crapbox, dubbed crapview. because we often struggle to fill our disks and there are long stretches when nothing happens. since we had a lot of good stuff from the GERP party, let's check out the new feature on this issue. included in the slideshow you find the track "wurst between" by vedder and mygg, also from the gerp party. crapview features: slideshow, pause, loads while showing, caches pictures in memory, has built-in music player, decruncher, a scripting language - see config file on disk. and for the pics we employ a special technique to achieve high compression, although they are in IFF format. you can extract them from the packdisk by decrunching them with cranker in data mode - and load them right into your favourite paint program! today's greetings: haujobb, defekt, artstate, smfx, dhs, ephidrena, lemon, insane, desire, loonies, struts, megastyle, istari, software failure! released: 03-mar-2023 ...wrap...
